About Me
Hey there! My name's Devin Burke. Before I started my own business, I worked in the non-profit sector. For several years, I worked hands-on with volunteers as a Construction Site Supervisor with Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Wisconsin, Colorado, and Minnesota, leading volunteers in building affordable homes for families in need. I also spent several years working in disaster response and recovery around the U.S. and internationally with All Hands & Hearts / All Hands Volunteers, cleaning up after natural disasters, and repairing and rebuilding homes and schools damaged in hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes.
Most recently, I've taken on a new role as Project Manager for a local non-profit providing accessibility home modifications and accommodations for children with disabilities.

In general, I'm open to a variety of projects! While familiar jobs are reliable and comfortable, new challenges are tasks are welcome challenges as well.
At present, since my main job keeps me busy during the week, I'm only taking on smaller jobs that can be completed on weekends.
I'm always open-minded to taking on new things, but some examples of recent projects I've completed include vinyl & wood siding repair, bath fan replacement, shower door installation, rebuilding & refinishing porch stairs, cabinet installation & modification, adding pullout shelving to cabinets, dishwasher replacements, TV mounting, exterior & interior door replacement, kitchen sink replacement, under-sink water filter installation, grab bars installation, replacing outlets, minor drywall repair, and many other things.
My previous construction experience includes areas such as framing, finish carpentry, flooring (especially LVP / SPC), siding, windows, doors, cabinets, plumbing fixtures, drywall, painting, insulation, and more.
Previously, Burke Builds LLC was operating full-time. However, I'm now working only on weekends due to other employment. Weekends book up fast, typically I may be booked out a couple months in advance.

Burke Builds LLC is a licensed Dwelling Contractor (#3241-DCFR) and is insured as required by the State of Wisconsin. Certificate of Insurance available upon request.
I guarantee my workmanship for a year on all projects. If anything I installed or repaired doesn’t hold up due to my work, I’ll fix it.
I generally work in Dane County. That's not set in stone though; for the right job I'm willing to travel farther. In those cases, farther distances may involve a higher charge to account for extra travel.
Rates vary depending on the type of service and the scope of the project. I'm happy to provide a free estimate for any job. If I'm performing service, I typically have a minimum charge of $150.

Absolutely! A lot of my background involved teaching volunteers how to do all sorts of aspects of building, from basic safety, to tool use and instruction, to actual construction techniques. I always enjoy empowering people who didn't think they could do this stuff.
